I struggled with my weight for years. Like you and your friends, I didn’t know who and what to believe. I followed many plans until I learned the REAL SKINNY RULES. But, the truth is, no matter who tries to create rules for weight loss the weight loss rules that go against the way our bodies are designed to function will be just that; another diet fad. The rules for weight loss are very simple, yet can seem complex. What you want to do is BREAK every popular skinny rule below and consider the remedy to losing weight for good.

1. Starving
Many people believe that losing weight is about drastically cutting back calories, having to eat foods you don’t like very much, and starving most of the time. They believe that doing these things will result in faster weight loss and faster results. However, the opposite is true. Starving can make you gain weight! Cutting back on calories is a good idea, but not all calories are the same. And, not all foods react in your body the same way. Starving is more damaging to your body than anything you can do. It is wise to pay a visit to a nutritionist who can advise you on the best foods to eat to lose weight healthily.
2. Chronic Dieting
Dieting is following eating regimes that limit entire food groups. When you do this, your body can’t metabolize foods well which can result in muscle loss. As a result of losing your muscle (which helps you lose weight better), your metabolism drops making it almost impossible to lose weight. Stop dieting and eat a healthy amount of food that will provide you with energy. Chronic dieting is when you go from one diet to another only to gain more and more fat after each diet. Never eat below 1200 calories and make sure you eat foods from all food groups.
3. Juicing
Yes! Juicing can make you fat instead of skinny? Why? Because juice has no fiber thus results in instead SUGAR RUSH to your body. Your body has to make insulin to help your cells to absorb the sugar. Too much sugar makes your body work too hard. You can become diabetic over time from juicing. Once again, it’s eliminating food groups. If you simply EAT the fruit it is different because it has fiber and fiber helps you get skinny. So, ditch the skinny rule of juicing.
4. Eating Too Many Carbs
Many vegetarian and vegan diets are popular. But, these diets involve eating lots and lots of carbs and very little protein. Your body has to work so hard to burn all the carbs, it makes it difficult to lose weight. Eating too many carbs can make you fat. Carbs come in 3 categories. Low, Moderate, and High carbs. The low carb foods have more fiber. Examples of low-carb good choices include green vegetables, fruits like berries, and grains like oatmeal. Moderate carbs are higher in sugar. Examples are brown rice, quinoa, wheat pasta, and rye bread. High-carb food options include white bread, white potatoes, french fries, donuts, cookies, pancakes, candy, and anything considered “junk” foods. You don’t want to eat too many carbs so balance your meal with protein, healthy low carbs, and healthy fat at each meal.
5. Limiting Your Protein Intake
The diet and medical industry will have you think eating a lot of protein is bad, but eliminating protein makes you fat, so ditch this silly skinny rule. It’s okay to love animals and don’t want to harm them. It’s okay not to eat animal protein, but, you’ve got to get your protein in your diet. If you don’t you can have serious anemia, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, skin conditions, and mood disorders. To get protein in your diet, you can get it through healthy dairy or plant-based protein sources and yummy nutrient-rich protein shakes.
6. Focusing on The Scale
Focusing on the scale can make you fat not skinny. It’s okay to weigh yourself, but if you rely ONLY on the scale you are doing yourself a disservice. All diets have you focus on the scale and that ONE number to determine if you are losing weight. Believe it or not, you can lose fat even if the scale number stays the same. You could be losing valuable muscle if the number goes down instead of fat. It’s fat you want to lose, not just the number on the scale coming down.
Take body measurements too instead of focusing on the scale. One way to measure if you are losing fat is to use body fat calipers. Use body fat calipers to measure your body fat once a week in addition to weighing yourself on the scale. Also, taking your body measurements and measuring bi-monthly along with watching how your clothes fit will give you a broader perspective on how close you are getting to your goal. Use a multi-measurement approach.
7. The One Size Fit All Workout
Lots of diets think you lose better if you do yoga, HIIT, CrossFit, or Pilates. There are so many great workouts, yet your body will respond better with variety, especially lightweight training. Each type of workout plays a role in your fitness. For example, yoga is good for increasing your flexibility. Pilates helps to build your core and lengthen your muscles. HIIT and CrossFit workouts help you become stronger. Walking can help you burn fat so you don’t have to do something that is out of your fitness comfort zone. Swimming, Zumba, you name it. Do a variety so that exercise is fun and something that will help you make it a lifelong habit.
8. Being skinny Fat
Being skinny fat makes more fat. What is skinny fat? It’s when you have more fat than muscle in your body. It is easy to get this way with starving and chronic dieting. Being super skinny isn’t healthy and can cause a lot of serious health problems. Ideally, you need to have more muscle than fat in your body. How do you know if you are skinny or fat? You can get a DEXA scan. A DEXA scan, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. is the gold standard for body composition. It is most often used for bone density testing. But, it can also give you your body composition; your fat percentage, your lean muscle and bone percentages, and hydration levels.
10. Never Thinking Of Detoxing
