There are a few things I will recommend and I hope you take them seriously because why invest thousands of dollars for tummy tuck surgery, if you are not going to be seriously invested in maintaining it? Stay Hydrated – Become Water Obsessed!
I can never be more clear than I am right now about the importance of drinking enough water. Water is your liquid fountain of youth! When you don’t drink enough water, all of your body’s organs, including your skin, can not function properly. As a result, you retain toxins in your body and these toxins play havic on your immune system. Not drinking enough water is a horrible habit if you want beautiful skin. And, did youi know you can actually GAIN weight, if you don’t drink enough water? That’s right! Toxins in your body make the liver have to create more fat. This excess fat forms around the toxin to protect your organs and in doing so, you get bigger. So, if you want to maintain your skin, keep it tight and keep the weight off, you must drink water, at least 64 ounces daily. It’s easier when you add fruit to your water. Eat Healthy to Maintain Your Weight
In regards to staying at your ideal body weight after tummy tuck surgery, this can be tricky. After tummy tuck surgery, you will not be able to exercise for at least 6 weeks or more. Therefore, your caloric intake must not be above your BMR (basal metabolic rate). BMR is the number of calories your body burns at rest and it is based on your weight and lean muscle mass. To make it easier, I tell you that the majority of women have a BMR of about 1200 calories, so you don’t want to eat over this amount. If you eat healthily, you will be able to eat really well with this limited amount of calories. Eat fresh vegetables, lean protein, and low-sugar fruit like apples and berries. Make sure you take a multivitamin too. Eating healthy means to stay away from sugary foods because eating foods high in sugar can slow down healing and cause weight gain. Eat small regular meals. Eating smaller meals throughout the day will keep hunger away. Also, it’s a great metabolism booster.
Eat Healthy Fats
People think if they want to keep weight off they have to eliminate eating fat. But, this is wrong. You must get at least 25-30 percent of your daily intake of calories to be from healthy fats. The best choices are olive oil for your salad and veggies. Coconut oil for cooking and avocado is another great healthy fat because the type of sugar in avocado help to keep blood sugar down and this will prevent weight gain.
Exercise Regularly
When the doctor releases you to exercise, it is best to take it slow and follow your surgeon’s recommendations. This is VERY IMPORTANT. It takes about 6 months total healing so you don’t want to cause any complications. Walking is probably the best exercise you can do to keep the fat burning process going. To keep muscles strong, again, when you are released to do light strength training, this will be very important. Keeping your muscles toned will help keep your skin tight.
