What is the Keto Diet?
A vegan diet is not the best diet for every health condition either. For example, people with conditions like obesity, type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and epilepsy can be helped tremendously by the ketogenic diet, while a vegan diet doesn’t help nearly as much. In medical journals, there are numerous studies proving that when you eliminate foods that cause the need for insulin production in your body, the result in great weight loss, especially from fat. The Keto Diet addresses stagnant weight loss by redistributing the nutrients so that 25% of your calories are coming from plant-based protein, 35% of your calories coming from low glycemic carbs, and 40 percent of your calories coming from healthy fats.
Eat Plenty Of Low Carb Vegetables. The best vegetables to eat are low carb vegetables because they are high in fiber, low in calories, and help you burn more fat faster! They fill us up and help your skin stay tight and smooth due to the phytonutrients and antioxidants in the vegetables. These vegetables do not cause your body to make as much insulin to help process the food as other high starch grains and vegetables. Here is a chart of all the low glycemic vegetables.
Consume around 25% of your calories from plant-based proteins. Protein is very important when the goal is to lose body fat. However, most plant-based protein sources like beans, legumes, and some ancient grains like quinoa or millet contain too many carbs. There are lots of fiber in these type of plant-based proteins and it doesn’t mean you can have them, however, you get more bang for your buck if supplement your diet with plant-based high protein powder for shakes. Drink 1-2 shakes a day and you’ve got at least 40 grams of protein, low car, fat burning, and more. Add a scoop or two to your green smoothie every day and you will be losing fat in no time!
Get at least 70% of your calories from plant-based fats.
