Summer is just around the corner, the gyms are closed, and you are following the stay-at-home safety policy and you’re trying not to get too stressed out about not gaining weight and getting your arms in shape. I totally get it and I’m in this along with you. You really don’t need a gym to get good effective arm workouts at home.

How To Avoid Thick Bulky Muscles

Most weight training programs were designed by men for building bulky muscles, I have personally experienced that myself. I had a male trainer when I first got into bodybuilding and I built some thick muscle that took me years to break down and sculpt. He was not a bad trainer, I just decided later on that I wanted to return to my slimmer dancer body.

Daily Motivation Is A Must – Set Yourself Up To Win

Treat the time you invest in your body as sacred. It is the tabernacle of your Spirit, your mind, and your soul.

Establish a set of habits and patterns that prepare your mind and signal your body that you are ready to train. Establish a set time and place. Get your tools such as weights tubes, chairs, water, sweat towels, workout mat, or other distractions.

Turn off the TV unless you are following a video. Turn off or move your phone, cell phone, computer, or any other electronic device that rings, beeps, or signals you for something. Get your music ready. Treat your workout time as a sacred experience. Also, be sure to make self-care a priority. Read to the end for a few suggestions. Step by step instruction for push ups

Modified push-up:

Works shoulders, and arms -Very effective but it takes a lot of concentration and focus.

Lie on your stomach, knees bent and ankles crossed or legs straight. Bend your Elbows, place your palms on the floor next to your chest, and keep your head and neck in alignment, eyes facing the floor.

Push yourself up and straighten your arms as you lift your body so you are balanced on your palms and knees, abdominals tight. Be careful not to lock your elbows.

Bend your elbows again and lower your entire body at once back to towards the floor, lower until your upper arms are parallel to the floor. Push back up again.

(Modify this workout even more by using the wall)

Kick-backs:

  1. Stand on the band with feet about shoulder-width apart keeping your knees slightly bent.
  2. Bend over at the hip with your shoulders back and chest pushed out.
  3. Bring your elbows up to about back level keeping your arms close to your side. Your elbows should be behind you and pointed up towards the ceiling.
  4. Now kick back with your arms straightening the elbow. You want to keep the shoulders stationary and let the lower arm do the moving.
  5. Repeat this for 10 – 20 repetitions. Try to work up to 3 sets of at least 15.

Tips: Keep your back straight while doing this exercise. Don’t let it round. Kickback your arms as far as you can and try to straighten the elbow.

 

Arm Workouts At Home

Tricep One-Arm Extension

Take a dumbbell with one hand it positioned behind your head with your elbow bent at a 90-degree angle. Contract (tighten) your tricep and press the dumbbell upwards until your arm becomes fully extended upward. Pause and return the weight to the starting position. Do this 8-10 times then switch to the other arm making one set. Do 2-3 sets.

(Modified Tricep Arm Extension. Here is a modified version using a chair)

Seated Two Arm Dumbbell Extensions
Sit at the end of a chair or flat bench while holding onto your two dumbbells. Slowly lean your upper body down as displayed in the exercise photo. Keep your arms tucked into your sides at a 90-degree angle. Slowly extend your arms out and keep your elbows in. At full extension of the movement, make sure to keep a little bend in your arms and all the tension on your triceps. Slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position.

You should see results from these arm workouts at home in just two weeks! They are simple but effective. You can do then any place you have the room or the energy to. Because they are light conditioning exercises, you can do them all two to three times a day if you wish.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and keep fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks so that you can lose body fat and see the beautiful muscles you are sculpting don’t forget to use Tighten Up on your arms when you are exercising for faster results!
