There are a lot of highlighting products on the market that give you a shimmer and glow using powder or cream, but that’s not the glow I want. What I want to learn is how to have glowing skin naturally without makeup. Relying on makeup to look good isn’t natural for me. Rose water’s ability to soothe the senses and skin has been recognized for centuries. Rose water helps to retain moisture and is mildly astringent, which helps to even skin tone and improve its appearance. Rose water has long been used for its cosmetic benefit; its effect on the skin helps to soothe and calm, reducing redness and irritation. It has long been thought of as a tonic and is used to treat blemishes and nourish the skin. Rose’s contains high levels of vitamin C, plus is rich in oils and proteins, which help keep skin soft and moisturized. Rosewater naturally contains retinol (vitamin A), which may help treat lines wrinkles, and other visible signs of aging. Rose water can inhibit pigmentation which often shows up as “age spots” or sun spots, so may be found in sunscreens, skin lighteners, and other anti-aging crèmes.
You can make rose water at home by storing rose petals in a jar filled with distilled water and steeping in the sun for 2 days. To make rose water tea, steep a handful of rose petals in boiling water for 10 minutes and strain. Pink and red petals make the most fragrant tea. You can also buy commercially prepared rose water. Drink up to two cups daily.

Its powerful chemicals can turn back time and help your skin glow. In powder form, you can do more with it put it in smoothies, make lattes with it, or healthy desserts. How To Make Green Tea Lemonade
- Make a mason jar or glass of lemonade to your liking.
- Make 1/2 cup serving of matcha tea using a teaspoon of Matcha powder. Remember when making matcha tea to drink, do not use boiling water. After you boil the water, let it cool for a few minutes, then stir in the matcha. Adding extremely hot water makes the tea bitter.
- Add the matcha tea to the lemonade and stir or shake vigorously to mix them.
- Add a sprig of mint and enjoy your delicious nutritious Green Tea Lemonade.
4. Your Skin Loves Foods With Vitamin C
Vitamin C has a variety of benefits for health and for maintaining healthy, youthful skin. It functions as an antioxidant, helping to offset oxidative damage that degrades collagen and leads to wrinkles and saggy skin. When skin is exposed to ultraviolet light from the sun, a sequence of events occurs that leads to free radical production. These free radicals damage skin cell membranes and activate enzymes that break down collagen and elastin, two most important proteins that keep skin firm and youthful. Vitamin C can donate electrons to free radicals so they aren’t as damaging to cellular structures.
Protection From The Sun
Vitamin C isn’t a substitute for sunscreen, but it does provide extra protection against oxidative damage that can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. Another benefit of vitamin C is it stimulates collagen production. Since collagen provides skin with the support it needs to stay firm and youthful, this helps to reduce wrinkles and skin sagging. It also reduces redness and inflammation after laser surgery. Despite the benefits of vitamin C, it has drawbacks. Some forms can’t penetrate the epidermis and reach the dermis where it can stimulate collagen production. Plus, vitamin C is unstable and loses its effectiveness quickly, especially if exposed to air or light. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is more stable than other vitamin C preparations and is lipid-soluble, which allows it to reach the dermis of the skin where it can stimulate collagen production. Most vitamin C preparations remain on the surface of the skin where they guard against oxidative damage but have little effect on collagen production.
Foods Rich In Vitamin C
All fruits and vegetables contain some amount of vitamin C.
Fruits with the highest sources of vitamin C include:
- Cantaloupe
- Citrus fruits and juices, such as orange and grapefruit
- Kiwifruit
- Mango
- Papaya
- Pineapple
- Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries
- Watermelon
Vegetables with the highest sources of vitamin C include:
- Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower
- Green and red peppers
- Spinach, cabbage, turnip greens, and other leafy greens
- Sweet and white potatoes
- Tomatoes and tomato juice
- Winter squash
Too little vitamin C can lead to signs and symptoms of deficiency, including:
- Anemia
- Bleeding gums
- Decreased ability to fight infection
- Decreased wound-healing rate
- Dry and splitting hair
- Easy bruising
- Gingivitis
- Nosebleeds
- Possible weight gain because of slowed metabolism
- Rough, dry, scaly skin
- Swollen and painful joints
- Weakened tooth enamel
Sometimes, it’s difficult to get enough vitamin C in your diet with food alone. Skin care products that include it in their formulations are the best ones to use. A study published in the Archives of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery found that participants who used topical vitamin C for three months experienced a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles and an improvement in skin texture. This was confirmed by a similar study published in the journal Dermatologic Surgery. Topical vitamin C also appears to be effective for lightening excessive skin pigmentation and improving the appearance of stretch marks.
5. Get Your “A” Game On! Eat Foods With Vitamin A
Vitamin A is one of the most valuable vitamins. It has functions including keeping our skin healthy, our hair strong and thick, and our eyes working perfectly. When you have a deficiency, you will have several symptoms like:
- hair loss
- skin problems
- dry eyes
- night blindness
- increased susceptibility to infections.
How much do you need every day? The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) is 900 mcg for men, 700 mcg for women and 300–600 mcg for children and adolescents. You may need more. It can be difficult to get the required amount you need as an individual because everyone is different. There are foods you can eat to ensure you are getting enough Vitamin A. If you see that you are eating these foods, then perhaps taking a superfood supplement you can add to your shakes will help.
In skincare, vitamin A is essential, especially in organic skin care. The form of Vitamin A in skincare is called Retinyl Palmate. Retinyl palmitate is the ester of retinol (vitamin A) combined with palmitic acid, saturated fatty acid, and a major component of palm oil. It is not considered to be the same ingredient as retinol, although it is converted to retinol, and then to the active component of retinoic acid once it is absorbed by the skin after being topically applied. Great for all skin types including sensitive skin.
Helps Speed Up New Healthy Skin
It is also effective at producing new, healthy skin cells to replace skin previously damaged by acne. Retinyl palmitate is considered an exfoliator (albeit more gentle than pure retinol), and its effect of repeatedly shedding the upper dermal layer forces the skin to produce new cells.
Fights Acne
On the acne-fighting front, it penetrates to sebaceous glands and reduces sebum production by binding to sebocyte receptors. Vitamin A also stimulates fibroblasts—the cells responsible for developing tissue that keeps skin firm and healthy—in the deep layers of your skin. Because vitamin A and carotenoids play such a big role in cell and tissue growth, not getting enough can lead to weakened skin, causing problems ranging from dryness to wounds that heal more slowly.
Stimulates Collagen Production
Research has shown that these ingredients are able to stimulate collagen production: When collagen becomes damaged due to UV exposure and other aggressors, wrinkles begin to develop, much like cracks in a weak foundation. Retinoids “turn on” cells responsible for making new collagen, strengthening your skin and filling in fine lines below the surface so skin looks smoother. It evens skin tone and gives you a glow.
Foods Rich In Vitamin A
Beef liver, lamb liver, liver sausage, cod liver oil, king mackerel, salmon, bluefin tuna, goose liver pate, goat cheese, butter, Limburger cheese, trout, blue cheese, cream cheese, sweet potato, winter squash, kale, collard and turnip greens, Swiss chard, spinach and romaine lettuce.

Eating foods rich in vitamin D can reduce wrinkles and make your skin soft, strong, and smooth while giving you “the “glow”! Getting enough in your diet can improve acne. It can help you fight against skin cancer and will boost your immune system allowing your skin to get rid of toxins better and make it easier to repair damage from free radicals that are in our environment.
Improves Skin Problems Like Psoriasis and Stretch Marks
Many people are deficient in vitamin D, especially vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is needed for the healthy functioning of your body, bone strength, energy, weight loss, mood, and mental health. People lacking in vitamin D3 are more prone to put on weight, and have skin problems and weak bones. One of the most well-known uses for Vitamin D in terms of skin is its treatment of psoriasis. Psoriasis symptoms include itchy and flaky skin, which can heal by the topical application of Vitamin D cream or by having prescribed Vitamin D supplements. Vitamin D3 contains strong anti-inflammatory properties which make it effective for treating burns, skin injuries, skin damage, and stretch marks. Thus vitamin D is mostly added to creams and lotions for its anti-inflammatory properties. The anti-oxidant present in Vitamin D prevents skin damage and premature aging of the skin. Vitamin D also helps to treat eczema and is a potential savior of rosacea sufferers.
Foods Rich In Vitamin D
Fatty fish has the most concentrations of Vitamin D. Many people can’t get enough vitamin D especially if they don’t like fish or are vegetarian or vegan. Supplementation, as mentioned earlier, is very important. Taking an effective omega-3 fatty acid supplement can help get your daily requirements in.
7. Skin Glow Made Easy! Add Foods With Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a natural skin-conditioning agent and antioxidant. It is the ester of acetic acid and tocopherol and is often used as an alternative to pure tocopherol (or undiluted vitamin E) because it is considered more stable and less acidic. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be isolated from vegetable oils. It is also found in dairy products, meat, eggs, cereals, nuts, and leafy green and yellow vegetables. Its substantiated benefits include enhancing the efficacy of active sunscreen ingredients reducing the formation of free radicals from exposure to UV rays promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin’s barrier function protecting the skin barrier’s lipid balance, and reducing transepidermal water loss.
In addition to eating healthy foods rich in vitamins for glowing skin, none of these foods or beverages will work if you are not hydrated. Make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of water daily. Hydration helps to flush out toxins from your body, helps to nourish your cells, and aids in the ability to make skincare products penetrate better.
