I’ve been following your Badass Hourglass Instagram Account on Instagram and I find it’s very helpful. Thank you so much for all the great posts with links back to the informative articles that have tons of tips and strategies to lose weight and get in shape and more!  My question today is, “How can I get a smaller waist?  it’s really been hard after having my second child and everything I’m doing isn’t working.  What would you suggest?  I know you talk about waist training, but is it safe? How long will it take? What waist training tips can you give to on how to do it safely?

I love everything about this waist trainer
I love everything about this waist trainer! The only thing that was odd for me was I measured my waist at 32 in. so I originally got the XL but it was too big so the only other option I could get was the Small and it actually fits perfectly. It’s tight on the first rings but not too tight or uncomfortable. I absolutely love the material and the overall fit and feel. The only downside is that it pushes my back fat up so I can’t wear anything tight with it on.

Just had a baby a month ago put it on and feel so much better about me
Got this yesterday, just had a baby a month ago put it on and feel so much better about myself, though i had to step on one end and pull on the other to stretch it a little bit. But so far going good…i hope this works will update in a month.

I love this waist trainer
I love this waist trainer. I wear it to work during my 12-hour shifts. Not only does it help train my waist but it supports my back and helps my posture too. It’s very comfortable, way more comfortable than any other cheep bulky waist trainers I have bought before. I also love it because it’s not bulky and when you wear under your clothes people don’t even know. You look better in your clothes while your waist training too so it’s a win-win. What is waist training?

Waist training is using a waist trainer or corset to reduce the circumference of her waist. Waist trainers come in all different types. Some you want to only wear during exercise because it provides less constriction than the ones that are more structured that you wear under your garments during the day. Corsets are similar to waist trainers but the fabric isn’t stretchy. It is tighter by laces in the back which adjust as your belly fat reduces. They all vary in price, material, and fabric, durability.

How Do Waist Trainers Work?

A waist trainer works by pulling your floating ribs. The controversy is around whether it is safe on your inner organs. My answer to that is this: fat around your inner organ is NOT SAFE and once you lose the inside belly fat (this is called visceral fat and it pours toxins into your organs like the liver, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys) As you lose the fat, your organs are not displaced at all. There are women and men who overdo this and of course, as in anything, it most is done in moderation. The effect is semi-permanent and once you get the shape you want, you only have to waist train 2-3 times per week instead of every day.

It is not safe to sleep in your waist trainer. When you go to bed for the night, this is a time your body renews itself. A waist trainer doesn’t allow for the necessary breathing that occurs when you sleep. When you sleep, your metabolism is controlled by totally different hormones than during the day. Your body temperature drops and you move all during the night. Your body must be free to move and adjust its self for comfort and a waist trainer would restrict this.

Don’t: Never Wear A Waist Trainer During Intense Workouts

There are some types of trainers you can wear during exercise. These are the ones that are made of very, stretchable fabric and are light and airy. However, you should only use these for doing light workouts like walking, yoga, dance, and cheerleading. 

Don’t: Never Do Ab Exercises In Your Waist Trainer

Many waist trainers have boning in them that helps to structure the garment and provide abdominal and back support. Doing ab exercises will only ruin the boning and will make your waist trainer ineffective.

Don’t: Move The Hooks Until You Are Ready Don’t force the waist trainer by going to the next row of hooks until you are ready. You will know when you are ready to go to the next hook when the trainer is becoming lose. Forcing the waist trainer to close will restrict your breathing and digestion.

Wearing a trainer that’s too small or if you try to move the hooks sooner than you’re ready can cause harm. Be patient with the process. You WILL get results!

Don’t: Move The Hooks Until You Are Ready

Don’t force the waist trainer by going to the next row of hooks until you are ready. You will know when you are ready to go to the next hook when the trainer is becoming loose. Forcing the waist trainer to close will restrict your breathing and digestion.

How Long Will It Take To See Results?

This depends on how often you wear your waist trainer and the diet you follow. It is recommended to start slowly. For the first 2 weeks, wear the waist trainer for 1 – 4 hours daily. Then with each week, add on another hour until you are wearing it for 8 hours. Never wear them for more than 8 hours. You should start seeing results in a little as 1 week. Because you are following a healthy nutrition plan and drinking lots of water, you will find that you can lose up to an inch off your waist in a couple of weeks.
